Digital applications now extend to library cards, road maps and more
ROCHESTER, N.Y., May 03, 2006 --The day may come when your airline meal arrives on a tear-resistant placemat personalized with your name, according to Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX), which today announced three new types of specialty papers that can be used in Xerox digital production color and black-and-white presses.

Based on synthetic materials, these “papers” stretch the notion of what can be created and printed on a digital press. They can be used to produce everything from weather-resistant planter tags that describe a plant’s growing habits and show the blossom color, to customized “Do Not Disturb” hotel doorknob signs, to removable window signs that promote sales.

The three upgraded lines of Xerox paper - Polyester Paper, DuraPaper™ and Removable Signage - are designed for use by graphic communications professionals and other customers. They provide an array of extra-durable substrates, opening new opportunities to get really creative when printing digital jobs.

“Our media engineers have expanded our supplies offerings to the next level, ensuring that Xerox digital production presses are able to deliver outstanding image quality on a broad variety of substrates,” said Nancy Rees, senior vice president, Xerox Supplies Business Group. “With these synthetic products, customers have more options to create new revenue-generating applications that take advantage of digital presses’ ability to print short runs and variable information.”

All-Weather Paper
Xerox Polyester Paper is designed for applications including light-weight technical manuals and airline tray inserts to heavy-weight ID cards. Featuring a bright white shade, the paper has a plastic feel and is weather, chemical and tear resistant. Replacing Xerox’s Nevertear product, Xerox Polyester Paper has an extended range of thicknesses, including 3.7 millimeters to 14 mm.

Also weather, chemical and tear resistant, the Xerox DuraPaper product line is now available in an extended range of thicknesses - 10 mm and 14 mm - and is available in 11“ and 17” sizes. Featuring a creamy-white shade, the paper has a single layer of an extra heavy-weight coated film on each side that latches on to toner to create crisp, clear images. DuraPaper’s softer feel and durable exterior make the product useful for printing maps, brochures and more.

Removable Signage
Xerox Removable Signage extends Xerox’s existing window decal product line. It features a polyester material for creating point-of-purchase displays and window advertisements. Available in clear and opaque films, Removable Signage comes in 11“ and 17” sizes. It is engineered to produce high-quality color graphics and razor-sharp text from Xerox office color printers and multifunction systems as well as Xerox light-production digital presses.

In addition, Xerox offers a comprehensive line of Custom Removable Signage in white and frosty clear vinyl, which customers can special order through Xerox. Vinyl Decals, which have a low-tack adhesive, can be ordered in 11“, 17” and 18“ sizes. And, Vinyl Cling acts as true ”static cling" that makes a sign or image easy to remove and reposition. Both of these specialty papers can also be used for promotional signage and point-of-purchase displays.

Availability
Engineered at the Xerox Media and Compatibles Technology Center for digital printing compatibility, these specialty paper products are immediately available worldwide through Xerox sales representatives. They are designed to run through the Xerox iGen3™ Digital Production Press and other Xerox digital color presses, from the DocuColor™ 240 digital printer/copier to the DocuColor™ 8000 Digital Press and Xerox Nuvera™ black-and-white digital systems. The removable signage can also be used on Xerox office printers and multifunction systems.

A full list of certified specialty papers can be found in Xerox equipment media or compatibility guides or in the Paper Resource Center at www.xerox.com/paper. Specific paper weights and sizes are available though a custom ordering process.
