SwitchCore’s Xpeedium2 Family enables WideBand’s Professional Series Gigabit Ethernet Switches

3 May 2006, INTEROP 2006, Las Vegas, NV -- WideBand Corporation, a developer of secure high availability networking solutions, today announced a product launch with SwitchCore AB, a developer of integrated switching devices for Internet and data communications.

WideBand’s new Network Management Unit (nMU), which is being unveiled this week at the Interop Las Vegas exhibition, raises the bar in network intelligence with constant monitoring, automatic repairs, and management for hundreds of switches from a single hardware device. The nMU uses a special physical interface to manage WideBand switches based on SwitchCore’s Xpeedium2 silicon.

WideBand’s SwitchCore Xpeedium2 based products are the Professional Series Gigabit Ethernet Switches for Layer 2 and Layer 3. These Enterprise-class Gigabit Ethernet Switches are part of WideBand’s continued expansion in critical network solutions. They offer up to 16 and 28 Gigabit Ethernet ports. Each model boasts a non-blocking backplane and full IP routing at wire-speed with dense Quality of Service (QoS) functions. The managed switch models provide extensive support for VLANs, traffic prioritization, and packet filtering based on Layer 2, 3, and 4 information.
