The Rocky Mountain Region’s first LEED- Gold-certified apartment development, Solera, has recently opened at 20th and Lawrence streets in Downtown Denver with loads of environmentally friendly options for Denver renters.

The 11-story rental property features 120 one- and two-bedroom apartments ranging from $1,035 to $2,990 per month. Green rental amenities include low-e windows, Energy Star appliances, high- efficiency lighting, dual flush toilets and locally produced cabinetry.

Each Solera apartment unit also boasts a TED device (The Energy Detective), which is a real-time power usage display that allows residents to make informed decisions about energy usage. The Solera apartment building also gathers 26 kW of energy from a solar array located on the roof.

According to David Zucker, principal and managing general partner of Denver based Zocolo Community Development, “This amount equals about 10 percent of the electricity demanded by the building.”

The downtown Denver eco-chic rental units, which range from 569 square feet to 1,530 square feet, also feature loft-style ceilings, open kitchen layouts and large windows that provide incredible mountain and city views. Select units also sport oversized decks.

“People are moving downtown because they gain a greater sense of connection,” Zucker says. Solera delivers on those aspirations with spaces that tend to create a sense of connection and inclusiveness.” For example, Solera apartment residents can gather in the lobby’s Mac/PC bar, the gaming area or the demonstration kitchen. Solera also touts a 1,500-square-foot fitness center and a complete bike maintenance area.

In addition to apartments for rent, the building also offers 5,500 square feet of retail space. For more information visit soleraliving.com.
