United Technologies Corp. Pledges $1.5 Million to Support Japan Relief Efforts

HARTFORD, Conn. – United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) today contributed $1 million, and pledged to match employee contributions up to another $500,000 to support relief efforts in Japan.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this terrible disaster,” said UTC Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Louis Chênevert. “United Technologies has been in Japan for more than 100 years, and we are deeply committed to our employees and partnerships there. We are thankful that all UTC employees are safe and want to offer this support to those affected by this tragedy.”

UTC will match 100 percent of employee contributions to Red Cross relief efforts, to a maximum of $500,000, to support humanitarian relief urgently needed in affected areas. Employees should visit company intranet sites for additional details.

As the situation clarifies itself in the days and weeks ahead, UTC will continue to work with the Red Cross and other international relief agencies to support relief efforts.
