TNI is a non-profit organization whose mission is to cultivate the quality and reliability of environmental measurement data used by government agencies.

The Expert Committee’s mission is to improve the technical quality of environmental testing methodologies in areas of detection, quantitation, and calibration to ensure data quality. The committee’s improvements are routinely adopted by federal and state regulatory agencies. Led by Dr. Burrows, the TNI committee includes members from all environmental disciplines, including laboratories, accreditation bodies, federal agencies, and the private sector.

“There are some difficult issues surrounding detection, quantitation and calibration that have needed to be addressed for many years. We have a strong group of people on the committee and I’m excited to lead them to develop new standards that will significantly improve data quality,” states Dr. Burrows.

Dr. Burrows is an active member of the U.S. EPA’s Federal Advisory Committee and the Environmental Laboratory Advisory Board (ELAB) and also participates in method and technique development with the American Council of Independent Laboratories (ACIL).
