New Online and Call Center Resources Help Movers Streamline Process -- and Help AT&T Earn ’First Call’ Advantage in the Market

San Antonio, Texas, May 1, 2006, With moving season kicking into high gear, AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced a new program that makes the company the strongest new one-stop resource for consumers as they plan and execute moving from one residence to another. More than 42 million Americans will likely change residence this year, and more than half will do so between the months of May and September. As summer moving season heats up this week, many consumers will begin breaking out the markers, packing tape, boxes and Internet tools.

Now, the new AT&T Mover’s Advantage program provides a one-stop resource for free online (www.att.com/move) or call center (1-800-MOVE-ATT) support for the entire moving experience — everything from transferring or establishing phone, Internet and entertainment services to connecting energy services, securing moving and storage services, sending change of address forms, finding moving tips, ordering a newspaper and much more.

The launch of the new single-source solution combines the best of separate moving initiatives created by both the former AT&T Corp. and SBC Communications Inc. into one, more robust and streamlined resource. The new resources also include new content and tools thanks to strategic relationships with companies like WhiteFence, that helps consumers compare and order essential home services quickly and easily.

According to U.S. Census Bureau data, more than 18 million households — or more than 42 million Americans— change homes every year. More than 51 percent of them are on the move from May through September. AT&T historical data echoes that trend. For example, in the 13-state legacy SBC service area, on average, almost 20 percent more new service connects and service transfers - representing millions of moves - were made during this same time frame in 2005 than during the rest of the year.

The new online moving resources are part of the company’s strategy to encourage new homeowners, who are usually primed to buy communications and entertainment services, to call AT&T. Research shows that consumers on the move are ripe to switch communications providers and to upgrade their services. In fact, half of new home buyers upgrade to more expensive entertainment packages and almost 70 percent buy broadband, compared to 38 percent nationwide.

“We want to alleviate the headaches of managing a move to a new house or apartment,” said Mikal Harn, Vice President, AT&T Consumer Marketing. “The AT&T Mover’s Advantage saves consumers time and money by helping them secure the most reliable and cost-effective bundles of communications and entertainment services. Plus, with a few more clicks, consumers can also secure other services such as energy services, newspaper delivery, insurance and banking - all from the same site - at any time of day or night.”

The company will support the Mover’s Advantage program with an extensive, multi-million-dollar promotional campaign focused during the prime moving season.

NEW OFFER HELPS MOVERS WITH HOME NETWORKS

New home owners are one of the prime targets for a recently launched service offer that helps consumers enjoy the digital lifestyle via a home network. Through June 30, new customers who order AT&T Yahoo!® High Speed Internet Pro service with an AT&T Wireless Gateway are eligible to receive free home networking setup services from a CompUSA® Techknowledgistsm or from other participating retailers’ technical support crews (taxes and other charges may apply). This offer is available via the moving call center (1-800-MOVE-ATT), as well as other AT&T call centers.

The home network set-up offer builds on the AT&T Support+ program, a 24-hour phone service available to residential and small-business customers which offers one-stop shop for technical support beyond high speed Internet service.

AT&T SMART MOVES PROGRAM HELPS BUILDERS, APARTMENT OWNERS

AT&T representatives also are working with property owners and managers across the country, who face frequent tenant moves. Through its AT&T Smart Moves program, the company provides not only a cost-effective “triple play” bundle of communications and entertainment services to residents in apartment complexes and condominiums, but also marketing support and services that ease the transition for both residents and property owners.

“Like consumers, these property owners, builders and developers also need tools to simplify the moving process,” said Maureen Weyel, executive director, AT&T Smart Moves. “We offer owners and developers a bundle of local, long-distance, high-speed Internet and home entertainment that they can make available to residents, plus we provide them with marketing and ordering support. In the end, we want to provide value to everyone involved in the move.”

In addition to this service support, AT&T offers a number of products that help customers stay in touch while they’re in transit, including Wi-Fi, voice mail, and other services.
