WEBWIRE

(Nationwide, USA) – March 5, 2010 - Communitydispatch.com and partners are joining with federal, state, and local government agencies and national organizations to celebrate the 13th annual National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) coming March 6-12, 2011. During NCPW, groups nationwide share tips and information that help consumers protect their privacy, manage money and debt, avoid identity theft, and prevent frauds and scams.

This year, Communitydispatch.com will focus on identity theft prevention, government fraud alerts, and internet scams, to show consumers how not get ripped off. According to Jen Reed, editor of Communitydispatch.com, “last year, the Internet Crime Center received over 25,000 complaint calls per month. The top 3 common victim complaints were non-delivery of payment/merchandise, impersonating the FBI and identity theft.” Raising consumer awareness of these types of threats and providing ways to protect personal data main priority of Community Dispatch and NCPW.

Go to www.ncpw.gov to read, view, download and order multiple copies of educational materials provided by nearly 30 organizations, check out a calendar of events nationwide, and find out how you can host an event. The website’s blog features posts from consumer experts nationwide, and allows consumers to get in touch directly with them about a number of consumer protection resources.
