Global Education Program Expands to the Adriatic Region

SAP NEWSBYTE - - SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today welcomed the 1,000th member to the SAP® University Alliances program, and announced the expansion of the program into the Adriatic region. The announcement was made at CeBIT 2011, being held March 1-5, in Hanover, Germany.

Following a signing ceremony at the event, the Middle East Technical University (METU) joined SAP University Alliances as the 1,000th member university. METU is the first public university in Turkey and one of the top-ranked in the country. The signing ceremony took place Tuesday, March 1, in Hall 4, with opening remarks from Elena Maria Ordonez del Campo, senior vice president, SAP University Alliances, SAP; Prof. Dr. Mehmet Volkan Atalay, vice president, Middle East Technical University; and Prof. Dr. Helmut Krcmar, academic director, UCC Technische Universitaet Muenchen.

Turkey, a key-growth market for SAP, is the official CeBIT partner country in 2011. The SAP University Alliances program was launched in Turkey in August 2010, and now runs with the support of the University Competence Center (UCC) location at the Technische Universitaet Muenchen (Technical University of Munich).

SAP today also announced the official launch of the SAP University Alliances program in the Adriatic region, with the University of Maribor, in Slovenia, as the first program member. With support from the local SAP ecosystem, SAP University Alliances in the Adriatic region will foster the development of connections among university leaders and students, SAP customers and partners, and SAP internal experts. The program will help students gain hands-on, practical skills in applying state-of-the-art enterprise software to real-world business scenarios, and offer faculty access to SAP software and educational resources to enrich their curricula, ultimately resulting in highly skilled graduates in the region.

The SAP University Alliances program was founded in Germany in 1988. Today, 1,000 universities throughout the world participate in the program. Every year, more than 200,000 students are admitted to SAP educational courses. For more information on the program, visit the SAP University Alliances community at www.uac.sap.com.
