Cusack won nine bouts in all, including wins against opponents from Russia, France, Holland, Spain, Germany and Belarussia. After defeating world-ranked number 5 Kontochristopoulos of Greece in the round of eight, he was narrowly beaten in semi-final bout by Daniele Garozzo of Italy who went on to defeat his team-mate Lorenzo Nista in the final.
