Imtech: high-tech orders in London worth 35 million euro

WEBWIRE

Gouda - Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) announced that it will equip two new buildings in London with high-tech technical solutions for approximately 35 million euro. These orders involve implementing innovative energy-saving measures at the Croydon Council head office and providing high-tech acoustic technology for the world famous Milton Court building of the Guildhall School of Music.

Imtech CEO René van der Bruggen: ’Investments in technology in the UK buildings market are limited, which leads to fierce competition. Imtech has responded to this situation by focusing on innovation and high-tech solutions. Recent orders coming from the Greater London region – which is an important area for Imtech – are particularly good examples of this strategy in practice. Imtech’s essentially unparalleled technical expertise enables us to keep our performance level up in the UK, despite the challenging market conditions.’

Energy savings for the Croydon Council head office The 14-storey and 21,000-square metre Croydon Civic Offices project will serve as the head office for the Croyden Council (a borough in London) and will be integrated with the existing historic Town Hall. Imtech is responsible for the entire technical infrastructure. Due to its environmental policy and CSR objectives, the borough is aiming for a building that is as energy efficient as possible. Imtech will thus realise a heating system as a means of providing energy resulting in significantly reduced CO2 and NOx emissions. Furthermore, Imtech will implement high-tech absorption technology, an innovative heat recovering system, clever ventilation and cooling technology and a number of other energy saving solutions, including lighting. Additionally, there will be a photovoltaic system integrated with the power systems to realise electricity from solar energy. In comparison to a conventional building, all of these efforts will provide significant energy savings.

Acoustic technology for the Milton Court building Another example of innovation is high-tech technology for the world famous Milton Court building of the Guildhall School of Music. The acoustic level that will be realised in the concert hall and the theatre (together with more than 850 seats) and in numerous rehearsal studios equals that of a recording studio. This is made possible by special acoustic technology from Imtech. In addition, Imtech will be responsible for providing the complete technical infrastructure, including energy provision, heating, special theatre lighting, communication technology, ventilation and air conditioning, a fire protection system and entrance control technology.
