Wolters Kluwer Health Forms Lippincott CME Institute
New Subsidiary Further Strengthens Independence of Company’s CME Business
(Yardley, Pa., April 24, 2006) - Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of drug and medical information services and content to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, today announced that it has separated its continuing medical and pharmacy education unit into a subsidiary company. The new entity, Lippincott Continuing Medical Education Institute, Inc. (LCMEI), is based in Yardley, Pa. This move helps strengthen the firewall between its accredited education services and other company products.
The Lippincott CME Institute has been approved by both the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). The new company will accredit continuing education activities for all Wolters Kluwer Health products-including Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Adis International, Facts
& Comparisons, and others-and will continue to service all previous CE activities undertaken by Wolters Kluwer Health.
“While our Office of Continuing Education has always had complete independence regarding all decisions about accredited CME activities, this new step formally protects the integrity of our CME program for healthcare professional participants and industry alike,” explained James T. Magrann, LCMEI Executive Director of Continuing Education.
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) is a leading global publisher of health-related journals and electronic information. Its continuing education products are used all over the world by physicians, nurses, specialized clinicians, and students. LWW is part of Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading provider of information for professionals and students in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, science, and related areas. The Lippincott CME Institute is one of only a few organizations in the world accredited to provide both medicine and pharmacy continuing education.
“Lippincott CME Institute’s accreditation services are an extension of Wolters Kluwer Health’s corporate mission,” added Magrann. “Our products have always been designed to educate health care professionals and, ultimately, help improve patient care and clinical outcomes. Our expertise in the design and execution of adult educational activities significantly increases our ability to help physicians and pharmacists achieve these goals.”
LCMEI’s new offices are located at 770 Township Line Road, Suite 300, Yardley, PA 19067. For more information, visit www.wkhealth.com or call LCMEI at (267) 757-3533.
