SAP NEWSBYTE - - Ventana Research, a leading benchmark research and advisory services firm, has ranked SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) as a top software vendor in its “2011 Value Index for Product Information Management” and its “2010 Value Index for Financial Performance Management.”

SAP earned high marks in the 2011 Value Index for Product Information Management (PIM) for its solutions that help organizations establish a single source of product information across the enterprise supply chain. These solutions help organizations derive maximum cost effectiveness and enhance the quality of product information and services they provide to their end customers.

The goal of PIM is to establish a single source of product information that can be shared across channels. Ventana Research’s findings indicate many organizations still have a basic need to develop product information to contribute greater business value.

SAP also earned the top ranking in the 2010 Value Index for Financial Performance Management. This Value Index evaluates vendor software against seven categories. Five categories were product related, including assessing usability, manageability, reliability, capability and adaptability, while two quantify the customer assurance issues of vendor validation and total cost of ownership and return on investment.

This evaluation framework for these Value Indexes provides an assessment of product functionality and suitability-to-task as well as the effectiveness of vendor support for the buying process and customer assurance. Using the Value Index, organizations can evaluate vendors and their products to ascertain the value of applications to address their specific business needs.

To earn the status of top-ranked vendor in the Ventana Research 2011 Value Index for Product Information Management, SAP competed against several other vendors, including IBM and Oracle. For the Ventana Research 2010 Value Index for Financial Performance Management, SAP outranked vendors such as Infor, IBM and Oracle, among others.
