Deutsche Telekom introduces variable rates to smart meters

WEBWIRE

* Rate controlling for electronic household meters
* Smart Metering & Home Management transmits rates in seconds

Since the beginning of the year, variable rates for end customers have been included in energy suppliers’ specifications. Deutsche Telekom now offers its Smart Metering & Home Management energy solution with a rate control option. The solution actually supports two rates but can be expanded by means of modules. Smart Metering & Home Management controls the rates for individual weekdays, seasonal times and regulations for public holidays. The solution thus meets the requirements of the Network technology / Network operation forum of the Verband der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik und Informationstechnik [Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies].

Smart Metering & Home Management transmits the rates in seconds in the same way as it records consumption details - but in the opposite direction: first in the Internet protocol to the communication box and then in the smart message language (SML) to the electronic meter. The solution supports electronic household meters by EMH and is currently being expanded to include additional manufacturers.

Deutsche Telekom presents Smart Metering & Home Management with rate control at E-world 2011, stand 7-111 (hall 7).

Deutsche Telekom will compensate for all CO2 emissions generated by its stand by making additional investments in a climate protection project in Brazil.
