University of Michigan Selects SSH Tectia for Secure System Administration and Secure File Transfers

WEBWIRE

Helsinki, Finland and Wellesley, Mass. - April 24, 2006, SSH Communications Security Corp. (HEX:SSH1V), a world-leading provider of enterprise security solutions and end-to-end communications security, and the original developer of the Secure Shell protocol, today announced that the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, has selected SSH Tectia™ to ensure secure system administration and to enable secure file transfers.

SSH Tectia, based on the award-winning SSH Secure Shell is widely used by large and small academic institutions to protect data internally and externally throughout the network. Used by millions worldwide, SSH Tectia provides transparent, strong encryption and authentication, and is available for all key enterprise platforms, including Windows, UNIX, Linux, and IBM mainframe, to easily integrate into heterogeneous environments without modifying the existing infrastructure or applications.

The University of Michigan licensed the SSH Tectia solution, including SSH Tectia Manager, through the SSH University Site Licensing Program. SSH Tectia enables faculty, staff and students to protect mission-critical data by enabling SFT and eliminating unsecured telnet sessions for system administrators with secure remote access using the SSH Tectia client/server solution. SSH Tectia Manager allows the University of Michigan’s system administrators to deploy software, maintain control of accounts, enforce security policy and perform auditing functions from one central location.

“SSH Tectia meets some special needs we have at the University of Michigan,” said Seth Meyer, senior university security analyst. “We are currently working on a two-factor authentication project, and the standards-based SSH Tectia integrates with multiple authentication options. In addition, SSH Tectia supports both UNIX and Windows OS, which is important since we have a multi-platform environment. SSH Tectia Manager will ease the burden of our ever-changing and demanding user environment by allowing us to deploy pre-configured software to both clients and servers and maintain strict policy controls and auditing functionality.”

“We are pleased that the University of Michigan has chosen SSH Tectia for their secure system administration and secure file transfer,” said George Adams, president and CEO of SSH Communications Security, Inc. “SSH has been very active in the academic community since the original protocol was conceived there 10 years ago by SSH’s founder Tatu Ylönen. We continue to support the needs of the academic community with the latest and most robust Secure Shell technology with our University Licensing Program.”

The site license is available under a small, medium or large model, with a perpetual license as long as the maintenance contract is valid. SSH Tectia support is offered at a percentage of the site license total, and includes software updates, e-mail support and phone startup support with a multi-year commitment under the program terms.
