Paul Fabara Joins American Express as Executive Vice President, Global Credit Administration

American Express today announced that Paul Fabara has joined the Company as Executive Vice President, Global Credit Administration. In this role, Mr. Fabara is responsible for worldwide credit, collections and fraud operations. This position was previously held by Larry Sharnak, who announced his retirement in September 2010. Mr. Fabara, who is based in New York, reports to Steve Squeri, Group President, Global Services.

Mr. Fabara joins American Express from Barclays Bank Plc in London where he most recently served as Managing Director and Global Head of Operations, Regulatory, Implementation and Planning. In this role, he oversaw all large regulatory programs across the bank to improve speed of delivery, quality and cost. Mr. Fabara also served as Global Chief Operating Officer of BarclayCard, managing all aspects of card operations and technology, including fraud and collections. Prior to Barclays, Mr. Fabara was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Credit Services at Alliance Data Systems, and also held roles of increasing responsibility in credit and collections at Providian Financial Corporation/Providian Bancorp.
