DALLAS,— Aetna (NYSE: AET) was unanimously selected as the recipient for the 2010 Corporate Appreciation of the Year award from the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Aetna was chosen for its corporate responsibility and commitment to the communities it serves.

“Through Aetna’s ongoing involvement in the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the seminars that they provide, they have helped our business community become aware of, and more importantly understand, how to fulfill their insurance needs,” said Janet Aguilar, 2010 Chair of the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “Aetna has also proven their support for El Paso by supporting small businesses and the Hispanic community through various outreach efforts.”

Aetna conducted a series of meetings last year for small businesses and the Chamber’s insurance brokers on the health care reform law to explain the complexities and changes facing businesses. In addition, Aetna conducted a health fair for Chamber members and the community. Aetna helps supports the Chamber’s “Café and Pan Dulce” meetings, its Fiesta Celebration (honoring businesses that have made significant contributions to the community), and Biz Tech.

“It is an honor for Aetna to be chosen for the Corporate Appreciation of the Year award by the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce,” said Ralph Holmes, Aetna’s market head for Texas. “El Paso is an important market for Aetna and we are dedicated to providing resources and improving access to health care in the El Paso community.”

The Corporate Appreciation of the Year Award is part of the annual Entrepreneurial Spirit Awards that are given out annually by the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
