New Turnkey Systems from VSG Built Around Harris Corporation’s Leitch Product Line to be Showcased at NAB2006

WEBWIRE

CINCINNATI, April 20, 2006 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) today announced that Venue Services Group (VSG) has chosen Leitch routing, processing and video server products to create two single-rack profile, turnkey systems designed to drop into any existing broadcast facility. The first two VSG Value Systems® — the RTR-200 routing system and the MCR-200 master control system — will be introduced in VSG booth OE 200 B at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention April 24-27 in Las Vegas.

VSG chose a range of products from the Harris portfolio for its new systems, including the Leitch Integrator® Gold wideband digital multi-rate router and Panacea™ compact routing switcher; 6800+ modular processing products; master sync pulse generator; and a NEXIO™ standard-definition, baseband video server with integrated storage.

“Because we pride ourselves at VSG on the quality of service we provide to our customers, we selected only top-of-the-line products from established broadcast equipment manufacturers for our VSG Value Systems®,” said Craig Taylor, vice president of sales and marketing, Venue Services Group, Inc. “We wanted to provide customers with rock-solid, tried-and-true technology, ease of operation and the ability to interface seamlessly with legacy systems — which is exactly what Harris’ Leitch products deliver.”

The MCR-200 is a pre-engineered, complete master control system that provides a cost-effective solution for adding channels to any broadcast facility. The system features a self-contained, SDI 16x16 router, analog-to-digital conversion of video and audio, audio embedding and de-embedding, wired patch panels with cords included, a 24-port gigabit switch, all redundant power supplies, downstream keying, 140 hours of variable-bit-rate video at 12 Mb/s server storage and an uninterruptible power supply to maintain on-air system operation during a power changeover. Interfacing with all industry-standard automation systems, the system provides robust control features that can seamlessly control a single standard-definition channel and can even be set to mirror a customer’s current programming — ready to switch over in an emergency. The MCR-200 is ideal for a supplemental digital channel or as an emergency backup master control system at a station or a transmitter site.

The RTR-200 is a fully functional, multi-bit rate digital routing system, preconfigured to drop into any television facility, which can be used to help upgrade a facility from analog to digital or from standard definition (SD) to high definition (HD). The Integrator Gold router can route signals from 3 Mb/s to 1.5 Gb/s and comes preconfigured for 16x16 SD and 16x16 HD usage. System expansion is easily accomplished by adding more cards to the frame, which is pre-wired for full 128x128 capability. All connections are made via a high-quality ADC HD jack field, and even patch cables are included. Also offered as standard are redundant logic and power supply boards and a 24-port gigabit switch, which ensures compatibility with any network connection. Router control is provided via an included industrial-grade personal computer (PC) with a full-sized 17-inch LCD screen and Leitch software. The router also comes with a standalone control panel, enabling quick front-panel switching.

“We are pleased that VSG has chosen Harris products for its new systems, which not only offer significant value and convenience for small-to-mid-market broadcasters, but also some of the industry’s most advanced technology,” said Tim Thorsteinson, president of the Harris Broadcast Communications Division.

Both VSG systems feature a pre-engineered, pre-built, pre-tested and warranted system frame, which arrives with full documentation and on-site installation and training.
