Pöyry appointed responsible for the Finnish Transport Agency’s railway management in Northern Finland totalling EUR 4 million

Pöyry’s Urban & Mobility business group has been awarded a railway management contract by Finnish Transport Agency. The work starts in the beginning of 2011. The duration of the assignment is five years. The value of the contract for Pöyry is EUR 4 million, which will be booked in the order stock in 2010. Added to this, the contract includes option for two years maximum.



The assignment covers the maintenance management of railways, rail structures and equipment, land areas and buildings administered by the Finnish Transport Agency in Northern Finland. The total length of the rail network is 1600 km. The management services cover various technical, economical, administrative and safety-related tasks such as tendering, instruction and supervision related to maintenance work.



Pöyry has managed the Northern Finland rail network already for seven years. This previous experience and the know-how of local conditions allow Pöyry to continue the successful work started in 2003.



Pöyry is currently working in various rail projects worldwide. The assignments include for instance supervision of several high speed rail construction projects in China and Spain, rail design projects in Romania, Poland, Germany and Finland as well as metro projects in Brazil, Peru and Finland.
