Team to Offer Free Energy Efficiency Advice to Local Businesses

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Seiko Epson Corporation (TSE: 6724, “Epson”) and Epson Taiwan Technology & Trading Limited (“Epson Taiwan”) today announced the formation of the Taiwan Energy-Saving Patrol Team. The team is based on the Shinshu Energy-Saving Patrol Team, which has during the course of nearly 250 patrols since 2000 provided energy-saving solutions to and shared knowledge with local businesses and corporations located near Epson’s corporate headquarters in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.

Boasting a long history of environmental innovation, Epson is committed to creating a harmonious balance between corporate activities and the environment, and has once again taken the initiative by assembling the Taiwan Energy-Saving Patrol Team. The mission of the team is to conduct onsite inspections and evaluations at local companies, and to offer feasible energy-saving advice to boost environmental protection and promote a balance between business and the environment. Led by the Taiwan Business Council for Sustainable Development, the new patrol team will comprise 19 professionally trained members including representatives from Chunghwa Telecom, AverMedia, Hotai Development, and Pioneer Material Precision Tech.

With support from Epson’s Head Office in Japan, Epson Taiwan established the Taiwan Energy-Saving Patrol Team in association with the Taiwan Business Council for Sustainable Development. Sure Lee, president of Epson Taiwan said, “Environmental issues are generating considerable concern in society, and the employment of effective energy-saving and environmental protection measures to fulfill corporate social responsibilities without disrupting business operations has become a significant challenge to corporations today. Epson is proud to be working with the Taiwan Business Council for Sustainable Development to establish the only privately-run non-profit energy-saving patrol team to deliver effective consultancy for energy management, and also help corporations strengthen their competitiveness by reducing costs.”

By helping organizations to enhance their energy efficiency in business and production processes, the Taiwan Energy-Saving Patrol Team is looking to achieve its core objectives of reducing carbon emissions and helping to alleviate global warming. The team plans to deliver free, onsite energy diagnoses to help businesses establish and introduce energy-saving measures. Plans call for a gradual increase in team members while conducting 15-20 patrols at different businesses and organizations per year.

The Taiwan Energy-Saving Patrol Team will soon begin accepting applications for energy-saving diagnoses. Businesses and organizations who wish to improve their energy-saving efficiency are welcome to submit their application to the Taiwan Business Council for Sustainable Development.
