Atlanta Legal Nurse Consultant Praises "The Art Of Editing" -- A Workshop For Writers

WEBWIRE

Atlanta, Georgia – Atlanta legal nurse consultant Liz Buddenhagen, registered nurse (RN) and certified legal nurse consultant loved the editing class presented by Dr. Wally Eberhard on November 20, 2010 at Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation (OCAF). “Professor Eberhard is the best” says Buddenhagen. “Everyone loves his classes; it is no surprise that his classes at the University of Georgia (UGA) Grady School of Journalism filled up fast when he taught there.”

About the Editing class:

“Editors and agents cast a critical eye on a manuscript, both for the story told and the way it is – or isn’t – edited. A well written but badly edited manuscript may not win favor” according to the workshop write-up by OCAF.

The first part of the class covered effective editing followed by an introduction to the Associated Press (AP) Stylebook and an AP Style workbook authored by the instructor. The AP Style guide is the most widely used and accepted within the publishing industry.

“True to form, the Professor answered questions in the beginning of the class and slowly and subtly shifted the questions over to the students until finally the students were answering the questions and the professor was asking them. Fingers were flying through the AP Stylebook as he put one student after the other on the hot seat. It was a lot of fun” said the Atlanta legal nurse.

About Dr. Wally Eberhard:

Dr. Eberhard’s editorial career began in fifth grade, when he launched a class newsletter. “His experience includes a decade as a newspaper and magazine journalist, followed by a career in journalism education at four different universities. He retired from UGA after 30 years on the Grady College faculty. He worked on the copy desk of a metropolitan daily, edited his own weekly newspaper and edited a scholarly journal. He continues working as a freelance editorial consultant, writer and editor,” says OCAF.

About OCAF:

Dr. Eberhard expressed appreciation to OCAF for hosting literary programs within their arts foundation. OCAF was started by five artists in Watkinsville, Georgia in 1994 to highlight arts in Oconee County. The foundation brings artistic cultural events and education to the community and brings over 20,000 visitors to the area annually. For more information view the website www.ocaf.com.
