New Unisys ClearPath Libra server to help CoreLink Administrative Solutions further its application modernization initiative and prepare for increased transaction load as business doubles

Blue Bell, Pa. - Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that it has received a five-year contract from CoreLink Administrative Solutions for Unisys ClearPath technology. The new platform will support mission-critical applications, helping CoreLink handle growing transaction volumes and enhance service to its health care clients.

Under this contract, Unisys will provide new hardware, software and implementation services to boost the performance of the system CoreLink software developers use to modernize mission-critical claims processing applications so they can take advantage of web services and modern interfaces. The modernized applications will make it easier for CoreLink employees to serve the full range of clients – hospitals, clinics, service providers and individual plan members in North Dakota, Nebraska and Wyoming.

This engagement is the latest step in a multi-year application modernization initiative in which CoreLink has drawn on Unisys consulting and development services. It is also the latest collaboration between the two companies in a relationship that dates back 40 years, before CoreLink spun off from Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota into a joint venture between the North Dakota plan and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska.

CoreLink Administrative Solutions provides five core claims processing applications used to serve clients and members of the Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in North Dakota, Nebraska and Wyoming. The applications, which are hosted on the Unisys ClearPath platform, include benefits and membership management.

“We anticipate that by 2012 our business volume will double from 2009 levels, driven by a dynamic health care marketplace with complex and continually evolving regulatory and privacy requirements,” said Steve Grandfield, chief executive officer, CoreLink. “We need to ensure that our mission-critical applications are equipped to handle the load, and that our employees have the tools they need to continue providing exceptional service to our health care providers and plan members. The new Unisys ClearPath technology will accelerate our progress toward those goals.”

CoreLink has purchased a Unisys ClearPath Libra Model 790 high-end server for modernizing and running the mission-critical applications. This Libra 790 includes the Unisys ClearPath ePortal for MCP, a special-purpose processor that will enable the CoreLink developers to implement web services for the applications and transform conventional terminal-style “green screen” interfaces into contemporary, easier-to-use graphically-based interfaces without reprogramming.

“The new Libra Model 790 and modernized applications will provide CoreLink with a more powerful environment that achieves greater performance at a lower cost while preserving our long-term investment in mission-critical business applications,” said Michael Gratz, vice president and chief information officer, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota. “Unisys is a trusted partner in helping Blue plans meet both IT and business challenges in a complex and ever-changing health care marketplace.”

“Unisys and CoreLink have had a long and beneficial relationship,” said Dominick Cavuoto, president, Unisys Technology, Consulting and Integration Solutions. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to help CoreLink prepare for growth as it continues its success in the health care marketplace.”
