Few Depuy Hip Implant Patients Seeking Legal Council

WASHINGTON, DC, – Early data from the new National Hip Replacement Registry (http://www.HipRecallRegistry.com) indicates that less than 10% of Depuy hip implant patients are requesting to speak to an Attorney concerning the Depuy Hip Recall after being contacted by their Surgeon . Depuy is currently offering to cover costs for testing, as well as, for a hip revision surgery, if required, due to the high rate of failure which led to the ASR hip recall.

Initial data also indicates that more the 40% of Depuy hip replacement patients have still not been contacted by their Surgeons concerning the Hip Recall . With an estimated 93,000 Depuy hip implants patients effected by the hip recall, this would indicate that tens of thousands are still not aware of the Depuy ASR hip recall and may be at risk. Reports indicate that Depuy did not maintain a list of patients who received their ASR Hip implant and are unable to warn its customers directly. DePuy’s failure to keep accurate records puts the burden on the implant patient to determine if they received a defective hip replacement.

Registering would allow for automated communications and information concerning health-related issues and news detailing all hip warnings and recalls that may effect these patients.
