Open house set for $1 Queen’s houses

WEBWIRE

Wednesday April 19, 2006, KINGSTON, Ont. - Prospective home-movers will have a chance to look inside the Queen’s University houses being sold for $1 during an open house set for May 6 from 12–4 p.m. The student tenants will have vacated the buildings in time for the open house.

The eventual buyers of the 24 houses on Clergy and Earl streets must agree to relocate the houses at their own expense by September 1st to make way for construction to begin on Phase 1 of the Queen’s Centre project.

“We will be looking for expressions of interest and specific proposals for moving the houses to be in by May 26,” says Tom Morrow, Associate Vice-Principal (Operations & Facilities).

The University will decide to whom they will sell the houses by May 31st. The University will likely favour buyers who can commit to moving multiple houses and will encourage buyers to co-ordinate their relocation efforts in order to minimize disruption to the campus.

Further details on the houses, including the houses that will be open for viewing are available at www.queensu.ca/pps. For more information about the Queen’s Centre, see qnc.queensu.ca/queenscentre/.
