Travellers turn to youtube for hotel video reviews
Youtube.com, the world’s largest online video directory is being used repeatedly by leisure and business travellers to assess hotels and holiday destinations before they make a hotel reservation or arrive at a chosen location a recent case study can reveal.
According to a study by Google “The Travellers Road to Decision” it indicates that YouTube is the most used site for travel videos, with 81% looking there for business travel and 79% for personal travel. Yahoo was second with business at 44% and personal at 32%. At every step of travel research, consumers are turning to online videos to help them make decisions. When considering a trip, 63% watch videos for personal travel and 66% for business travel. And as much as consumers are creating reviews, they’re also starting to upload their own travel videos - personal at 6% and business at 16%.
Clearly hotel marketers are already using this video channel to promote their hotels but large percentages are still not taking advantage of free online opportunities on the internet, particularly youtube.
So hotel video is not important for your hotel right? Not quite…
According to Fraser Hunter founder of Yakoozo.com, not only can video increase traffic to your website, appear in google search results and help convert more sales opportunities, it’s becoming a form of marketing expected by customers today.
“A picture is worth a thousand words, and online hotel videos can help your property capture more guests. It’s not just costly professional video productions that get noticed online, if you have a computer, video camera, a bit of know-how, and do your research, hotels can achieve excellent results at a fraction of the cost. Investing in staged promotional hotel video, albeit pretty and a luxury, holds less credibility than it did, and customers know it. Fact is raw video produced by customers or smart marketers inspire confidence with leisure and business travellers”.
Hotels should be aware visitors will search for your business on the internet, looking for reviews and video, particularly on youtube, so why not take advantage of these opportunities?
There are many video channels hotels can promote video particularly the new search engine for hotels, yakoozo.com where hotels can market video from youtube, yahoo, tvtrip and countless other video channels.
UK based global hotel search engine yakoozo.com went live online late 2010.
