San Donato Milanese (Milan), - Iraq’s Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and Eni CEO Paolo Scaroni met today in Baghdad as part of the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Franco Frattini’s visit to Iraq.

Major Iraqi authorities, such as the President of Republic Jalal Talabani and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hoshyar Zebari, attended the meeting, which took place in the usual climate of friendship. Mr. al-Maliki and Mr. Scaroni focused on the progress of the company’s projects in Iraq, where Eni is the operator of the giant Zubair oilfield.

The Zubair field, one of the biggest oil fields in Iraq, will reach 1.2 million boe per day at full capacity. Eni is a major player in the Middle East, where it is present in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons, construction and engineering sectors.
