BT takes conferencing into the cloud

WEBWIRE

BT presented today its new suite of managed cloud-based BT Conferencing services (audio, web and video) for the Italian market, allowing enterprises and public administration to minimise their costs for fixed investment and optimise infrastructure globally.

Available from January 2011, customers of the new set of services can greatly reduce their investment in multi-point conference equipment and require less specialized supporting staff. The cloud-based approach lets customers order via a user-friendly self service online booking system on a pay-as-you-go basis, even for a single video conference session across several offices.

BT’s centralised infrastructure, hosted via its data centres, provides both security and business continuity and delivers top performance every time the on-demand features, services and resources are needed.

Customers also benefit from inter-operability between video equipment from different vendors (Cisco, Tandberg, Polycom, Lifesize and Kontiki) as well as various technological solutions ranging from personal video systems to high end telepresence services.

With BT’s remote assistance every step of the way customers can rely on a worldwide proactive service monitoring the entire communication system at all times – independent of time zones and the availability of local staff.

“BT’s new cloud-based offer revolutionizes the conferencing market,” said Enrico Campagna, marketing director, BT Italia. “It drastically reduces costs and allows customers to pay for used services only, while accessing a maximum of capabilities, improving efficiency, significantly reducing travelling and environmental impact”.

Marco Zatta, BT Conferencing said: “The new services, managed by BT Conferencing, also provides Italian customers with more complex Unified Video Communication projects such as turn-key solutions and integrated audio, video, web and streaming conferencing services available at all times and all year round.”
