Cummins Distribution Business announces European organizational change

WEBWIRE

MECHELEN, BELGIUM – Cummins Inc. (NYSE:CMI) has announced an organizational change to its Distribution Business in Europe.

The main change will focus on the transition of Cummins European Distribution Business from its current structure of four wholly-owned, geographically defined entities spanning 16 countries to become one single large European organization that supports customers by market segment across country and regional boundaries. The current four entities are Cummins UK, Cummins Mediterranean, Cummins ScanBen, and Cummins Central and Eastern Europe.

Commencing in January 2011 and continuing through into 2012, 21 key initiatives will be implemented, each of which is designed to enable performance improvements across the wider European business.

This planned change is as a result of a strategic business review project called LIFT, developed with the purpose of aligning Cummins business objectives with changing and challenging market demands. In designing an organization that is better able to meet current and future customer needs across Europe, the input of many important stakeholders was considered through a comprehensive process involving customers, employees, business leaders and other corporate stakeholders.

In making the announcement, Ron Somerville, Managing Director – Greater Europe RDO, said, “I am very pleased to announce this exciting organizational change. It will deliver clear benefits for customers who are provided with more specialized support across the wider European area, and for our business as a stronger and more flexible modern organization that is better able to compete in changing market conditions.”

Somerville also said, "Acting as one large, efficiently structured organization will enable us to leverage our skills, experience and assets across country borders, with considerable market knowledge and product application understanding to provide assistance and support to customers, wherever they are.

“This change reflects the need to deliver a consistent approach, speaking with one voice as we provide customers with standardized operations, processes and procedures throughout Europe. Our aim is to exceed customer expectations so we are their first choice, developing our capability and delivering legendary service.”
