Loretta Colvin Joins Clayton Sleep Institute to Enhance Clinical & Educational Services

ST. LOUIS (December 2, 2010)—Clayton Sleep Institute (CSI) hired Loretta Colvin, RN, APN, as Clinical Consultant and Director of The Knowledge Center, CSI’s program for sleep education. In her clinical role, Colvin consults with patients regarding their sleep studies and plans of care. As Director of The Knowledge Center, Colvin leads efforts for patient and partner education and will develop a CSI program for certification in clinical sleep care.

Colvin came to CSI from The Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she served for more than nine years. She began in the Cardiac Care Unit and worked in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine where she ultimately specialized in sleep medicine. She served in The Johns Hopkins Hospital Sleep Disorders Center where she was the group coordinator for AWAKE, a network of sleep apnea patients and sleep medicine practitioners focused on education in sleep apnea and other sleep disorders.

“My experiences at Johns Hopkins caused me to fall in love with the practice of sleep medicine,” said Colvin. “I am thrilled to continue that work with CSI, an organization that is committed to providing patients with a comprehensive approach to diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. I am eager to expand our education programs for the CSI Knowledge Center and to develop our program for certification in clinical sleep care.”

Colvin is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the Missouri Nurse’s Association and the St. Louis Nurses in Advanced Practice. A native of Columbia, Mo., Colvin earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and a master’s degree in the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
