WXC Platforms Speed Large File Downloads and Enable Cost-cutting Server Centralization Initiatives

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 18, 2006 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced that GHAFARI, an award-winning architecture/engineering firm known for technology innovation, selected its WXC application acceleration platforms to speed transfer of large CAD files between office locations, dramatically improving user productivity, reducing IT investments and increasing user satisfaction.

The WXC application acceleration platforms provide secure and assured application delivery, accelerating a broad range of business applications by increasing available WAN capacity and improving the performance of inherently inefficient protocols. With the Juniper application acceleration platforms, remote- and branch-office users experience more LAN-like response times when accessing centralized applications and files over fixed-capacity wide-area links.

“The performance of many applications can erode when they cross the WAN, frustrating users, hobbling efficiency and compromising business goals,” said Peter Sevcik, president NetForecast. “Many customers have used the WX to solve their application performance issues, achieving improved response times, bandwidth savings and increased user satisfaction.”

GHAFARI has deployed the Juniper Networks WXC platform to accelerate the performance and speed downloads of critical business applications to its branch offices. With as many as one-third of employees accessing applications from branches, the WXC platform accelerates performance for critical applications like 3D building information modeling, CAD and Exchange e-mail messaging, as well as Windows file services.

“The issue is everything is larger today, whether it’s e-mail attachments or documents,” said Robert Bell, GHAFARI director of IT. “CAD drawings are much larger because of 3D/4D building information modeling and 3D high-definition surveying. The connections among our offices are critical, and the applications have to perform at all times. Otherwise, our business can’t function.”
Accelerating Downloads

The WXC platform helps companies speed applications, increase WAN capacity and enable prioritization through the integration of several interdependent technologies. The WXC platform’s Molecular Sequence ReductionTM (MSRTM) compression capabilities benefit a broad-cross section of application types, helping businesses achieve up to a 10-fold increase in WAN bandwidth. GHAFARI also uses the WXC platform’s Network Sequence Caching technology, which dramatically speeds the transfer of large files like CAD drawings and presentations by eliminating repetitive data sequences, enabling up to 100-fold increases in WAN capacity.

In addition, GHAFARI uses the WXC platform’s Application Flow Acceleration (AppFlowTM) technology to speed Microsoft Exchange, Windows file services and web-based applications whose performance over the WAN are impacted by inherent constraints of their underlying protocols - the Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI), the Common Internet File System (CIFS) and HTTP. Thanks to the AppFlow technology, GHAFARI has been able to centralize their Exchange servers in their Dearborn, MI data center despite a rapid growth of staff in its branch offices, greatly simplifying maintenance, management and regulatory compliance while reducing overhead and IT staff costs.

“When you use Microsoft Outlook from the Indianapolis or Chicago office, there’s no difference in performance compared to Dearborn,” says Bell.
Juniper-based Infrastructure

GHAFARI deployed the WXC application acceleration platforms alongside Juniper J-series routers that form the wide area network infrastructure and is deploying the Juniper SSL VPN solution to provide secure remote access for mobile employees accessing centralized resources from job sites and home offices.

“Whether people are at home or on the road, they can get access to their applications like e-mail and timecards from any web browser,” says Bell. “And with the Juniper SSL VPN, I know it’s secure.”
About GHAFARI

Headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan, GHAFARI is an organization of architects, engineers, consultants, and staffing specialists providing services to a global client base that includes the aviation, manufacturing, government, and commercial sectors. Founded in 1982, the organization built its reputation on responsive client service and the use of the latest technology to improve quality. GHAFARI’s consistent growth and success has been acknowledged on various national and local levels, including recognition in Engineering-News Record magazine as the #1 designer of automotive facilities and the #5 designer of manufacturing facilities in the United States.

GHAFARI has been a leader in the use of advanced technology tools for commercial and industrial projects, including the deployment of 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology across the design/construction supply chain. In particular, GHAFARI’S deployment of 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology earned the respect of clients seeking to accelerate schedule and reduce construction costs:

* GHAFARI earned the Bentley Award of Excellence for its application of BIM to support the construction of a new automobile assembly plant in Michigan.
* GHAFARI’S application of BIM to support a major engine plant expansion in Flint, Michigan was selected as the cover story for the October 10, 2005 Engineering News-Record magazine.

In addition to its Dearborn, Michigan headquarters, GHAFARI also operates full-service offices in Chicago, Illinois and Indianapolis, Indiana. For more information please visit the GHAFARI website, www.ghafari.com.
