Helping meet the world’s increased power generation demand, TFC’s vast portfolio can supply both critical safety related and non-safety related valves and controls

Princeton, NJ, November 22, 2010 – Tyco Flow Control, a division of Tyco International, was recently awarded more than $13 million in contracts from China’s State Nuclear Power Engineering Company Ltd (“SNPEC”), China Nuclear Power Engineering Co. (“CNPEC”), and the China Nuclear Power Engineering Corporation (“CNPE”) to provide valves and controls for 26 new nuclear reactor projects in China. Leveraging its broad product portfolio composed of the industry’s leading brands, Tyco Flow Control has the unique ability to provide customers with safety related isolation, control and relief valves, as well as non-safety related valves for the “balance of plant.”

“Tyco Flow Control has delivered state-of-the-art products and services to the global nuclear power market for the past 50 years. Our reach continues to grow as we help China build its power generation infrastructure,” said Dr. Achim Trasser, vice president and general manager of global power, Tyco Flow Control. “While we remain focused on the safety related isolation, pressure relief and non-return valves that have been a core part of our business, we are also bringing customers a range of non-safety related valves so we can provide a variety of solutions tailored to customers’ unique needs.”

In addition, Tyco Flow Control has recently expanded its manufacturing capabilities beyond its traditional facilities in North America and Europe. This enables the company to produce more products locally in China and other emerging markets. A portion of these newly contracted valves will be manufactured at Tyco Flow Control’s manufacturing facility in Shanghai. These products are to be used in the new reactors being constructed at the Fuqing, Tianwan, Yiangian, Fangchenggang, Sanmen and Haiyang sites in China.

“Tyco Flow Control’s track record of engineering expertise and reputation in the valve industry, combined with the company’s new manufacturing capabilities in China, assured us that they would be the right partner for this project,” said Mr. Zhang Jianping, commissioning manager, China Nuclear Power Engineering Co. “We are also pleased that they have the on-the-ground presence to assist in the assembly and commissioning of our new plants, as well as additional aftermarket services.”

Tyco’s nuclear power experts bring over 50 years of engineering, state-of-the-art testing and QA knowledge to the reactor design engineers and operators around the world, regardless of code or reactor type. The company’s products are used in both new Gen II and Gen III reactor construction and can also be used in upgrading and retrofitting existing nuclear plants.

The SNPEC, CNPEC and CNPE contracts follow a similar contract win earlier in the year, in which Tyco Flow Control provided highly specialized pressurizer relief valves for Taishan 1 and 2, China’s first AREVA European Pressurized Reactors (EPR), a third generation pressurized water reactor.
