Deutsche Telekom continues to innovate in mobile internet with its newest version of its personal mobile internet service web’n’walk and extends the ease of use of apps to the full mobile internet. The new browser based start page offers users easy access to relevant internet services and information via the icon layout, and simplified navigation compared to traditional web pages. Browser icons now feature at-a-glance and instant notifications. For example local weather is directly shown, and new incoming emails are directly indicated. In addition, RSS feeds keep the user always up to date with his/her preferred news provider.

Virtually unlimited flexibility is provided to customize the personal start-page. The user can select from a large set of top internet services, focus lies on optimal mobile usability. In addition, any bookmark can be added.

The mobile media store also has been updated. All content, such as apps, music, ringtones, games and eBooks can easily be browsed and obtained. Additionally, in selected countries customers can directly access self-service to check account balance or top up their credit.

“Our aim is to deliver the best mobile internet experience to our customers based on great networks and devices, affordable and transparent data plans and easy access to services. We already recognized a 60% year on year increase of unique active users on our mobile start page,” explained Rainer Deutschmann, Senior Vice President Mobile Products, Deutsche Telekom AG. “Next to the apps explosion, we see an equally amazing growth in mobile internet optimized web services available through ever more capable internet browsers. Our new web’n’walk service is designed to facilitate access to those mobile internet services, with a usability known from the smartphone apps. On this platform, we will continue to deliver the most exciting and relevant internet services, information, and contents to our customers.”

Deutsche Telekom - a pioneer of the open mobile internet - was the first operator to offer true open mobile internet access in 2005, a personal mobile internet start page in 2007, and in addition leading mobile internet handsets, such as the iPhone, the world’s first Android phone with Google and Windows Phone 7.

The new personal mobile internet service web’n’walk launches beginning of November in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and United Kingdom across hundreds of mobile internet enabled phone types, with further roll-out planned, such as in Romania and other markets.
