– Burbank, CA – Take a trip to fairytale land with Elmo and friends as Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind “Sesame Street,” and Warner Home Video release “Silly Storytime” on DVD on February 1, 2011 for $14.98 SRP. “Silly Storytime” features “Sesame Street” retellings of fairytale classics including Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, Jack and The Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood. In addition to these fairytale adventures, fans get an added bonus with four classic “Kermit News” segments starring America’s favorite amphibian. Order due date is December 28, 2010.

Once upon a time, Elmo and his friends came together to share all their silly fairytale adventures in one 47-minute DVD. “Silly Storytime” begins when Zoe wishes she had longer hair just like Rapunzel, but when her Hairy Godperson grants her wish, it puts Zoe in a hairy predicament! During the next two tales, Prince Elmo tries to break an evil spell cast on Sleeping Grouchy that makes her sleep for 100 years, while his other “Sesame Street” friends help Jack grow a beanstalk. Finally, dance along with the Big Bad Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood as they sing about the parts of a face in a musical version of the classic story.

Keeping with “Sesame Street’s” educational focus, “Silly Storytime” highlights early literacy skills, such as rhyming and reading fundamentals; problem solving and critical thinking which includes guessing from clues; and learning about nature and living things. The DVD also features four classic “Kermit News” segments along with a special animated story DVD extra, “Grover Makes a Wish.”

“Warner Home Video is happy to be introducing ‘Silly Storytime’ on DVD,” said Amit Desai, WHV Vice President, Family, Animation & Partner Brands Marketing. “‘Silly Storytime’ puts a ‘Sesame Street’ twist on some of the most beloved fairytales of all-time making this a must-have DVD for families and ‘Sesame Street’ fans.”

Now in its 41st season, “Sesame Street” is the longest-running program in children’s television. The series has received more Emmy awards than any other show in television history (130), as well as a Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award honoring the 40th year.
