dabs.com helps spread festive cheer thanks to Sony promotion

Leading electronics manufacturer Sony has announced it will lighten the load for Christmas shoppers this year by refunding VAT.

The offer, which applies to a wide selection of Sony products, represents the biggest promotion that the company has ever run. And online technology retailer dabs.com is doing its bit to make sure customers get the best choice of products possible by stocking everything from Sony laptops to monitors.

As well as an online and press advertising campaign, Sony has created a series of television adverts staring actor Derek Jacobi, which will premier this weekend during Saturday’s primetime show The X Factor, on ITV1. The campaign message is simple - take advantage of this offer before the government’s new VAT level of 20 per cent come into force next year.

Christmas is a bumper time for retailers as shoppers go online and head to the high street to pick up presents. However, Sony has said it is aware that the coming months are likely to be tough for many people in the UK and wants to lend a helping hand to anyone in two minds whether to go ahead and buy that extra special gift.

A spokesperson for dabs.com said: “This is a huge promotion and will undoubtedly be a hit with our customers. Discounts like this involving top quality products do not come along very often and so anyone buying gifts for friends or family this Christmas would be mad to miss out and get the VAT back with Sony.”

The cashback incentive is open to customers who buy from a range of Sony electronics products, which includes LED TVs and camcorders, before Christmas Eve. People will then have until the end of January to apply for their VAT refund.
