Microsoft Tech•Ed Europe 2010

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT / TSE: 6501) and Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., today announced participation in Microsoft’s new private cloud reference architecture program, Hyper-V Cloud Fast Track. At Microsoft Tech•Ed Europe 2010 conference this week, Hitachi Data Systems is showcasing integrated solutions for Microsoft, including solutions built on Microsoft Hyper-V Cloud Fast Track that guide and clarify the creation of private cloud building blocks to simplify deployment and optimize customers’ private cloud infrastructures with reduced risk.

“Businesses today need building blocks for private cloud infrastructures that are reliable, scalable, multitenant and multitiered,” said Miki Sandorfi, chief strategist, File, Content and Cloud, Hitachi Data Systems. “Hitachi addresses customer challenges by looking at the data center from the business perspective, tuning solutions to different business needs and driving innovation down to and across all components. As the latest milestone in our partnership, Hitachi solutions built on Hyper-V Cloud Fast Track will help businesses quickly and cost effectively deploy private cloud infrastructures with predictable results and create an avenue for further automation and orchestration.”

“Microsoft is providing a familiar and consistent platform across traditional, private and public cloud environments, so that customers can use investments and skill sets already in place,” said Brad Anderson, corporate vice president of the management and security division, Microsoft Corp. “Hyper-V Cloud Fast Track provides the foundation for private cloud deployments that combines Microsoft software, guidance and validated configurations with Hitachi computing, storage and software technologies. Our joint customers can quickly build a private cloud infrastructure with flexible, just-in-time provisioning on dedicated resources with efficient operations that are optimized for control over shared capabilities, data and costs.”

Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi Data Systems and Microsoft have a long-standing relationship that has delivered mission-critical solutions to customers around the world. Solutions include the Hitachi Unified Compute Platform, the industry’s first open and unified compute platform for enterprise data centers, and Hitachi Storage Cluster for Hyper-V, an end-to-end server-to-storage virtualization solution. Hitachi solutions built on Hyper-V Cloud Fast Track will combine Hitachi compute and storage with network infrastructure and Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V and System Center software.
