WEEE Directive is big on Safetyshop’s agenda

Safetyshop.com, one of the UK’s largest online retailers of safety signs and equipment, is offering its customers WEEE wheelie-bin with an X label and RoHS Compliant Directive 2002/95/EC labels for electrical equipment online, in a bid to show its continued commitment to the WEEE Directive.

The WEEE Directive (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive) is a government scheme which was set up with the aim of reducing the huge amount of electrical equipment being manufactured each year and to encourage more people to recover, recycle and reuse electrical items.

Safetyshop prides itself on being fully compliant with such schemes and is therefore completely on board with the WEEE Regulations, which require companies that sell electrical items under their own brand to provide an environmentally friendly disposal method for electrical equipment that has been put on the market since 13 August 2005 and that has reached the end of its life.

All electrical and electronic equipment put onto the market after 13 August 2005 should by law be marked. Visual indicators in use today include the WEEE wheelie-bin with an X label and the RoHS (Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances) Compliant Directive 2002/95/EC label, allowing customers to do their bit for the environment when buying electrical goods.
