Lectrus’ South Dakota Operation Expands to Accommodate Growth of Equipment Center Business

WEBWIRE

Chattanooga, Tennessee – Throughout its history, Lectrus’ South Dakota Operation has been a leader in the manufacture of custom generator enclosures. Lectrus acquired this facility earlier this year as part of its strategic plan to establish regional manufacturing locations across the US. Currently, a large-scale expansion is underway to accommodate continued growth of the company’s equipment center business. An equipment center is a NEMA 3R, walk-in metal enclosure designed specifically to house low, medium and high voltage electrical equipment provided by the customer. Nearly finished is a 170-ft wide x 280-ft long x 8-in thick reinforced concrete pad critical in final production stages of Lectrus equipment centers. Stack Construction of Sioux Falls, South Dakota is placing and finishing the reinforced concrete slab. When complete, the pad will include three 600-Amp electrical services necessary to provide power during final assembly and electrical integration stages of equipment center production. In addition, Lectrus is installing a drive-through paint booth capable of coating equipment centers and generator enclosures over 20ft wide and 70ft in length. The new paint booth is expected to be operational in early-December.

“Our customers will soon realize significant benefits from these manufacturing upgrades in South Dakota,” stated Rob Deck, EVP of Operations for Lectrus. “The needs of our growing base of Midwest and western customers will be met more expediently than ever before.”

A growing number of Lectrus’ equipment center customers are being served simultaneously by the South Dakota, Chattanooga and Houston manufacturing facilities. Also, the manufacturing process for Lectrus’ generator enclosures will be fully optimized after these enhancements at the South Dakota plant. Lastly, a smaller carbon footprint is realized when transporting product from Lectrus’ regional manufacturing plants and project sites.

Adam Aasen, Vice President and General Manager of Lectrus’ South Dakota Operation also commented, “This addition is critical to the growth of our business. The strategic position of our South Dakota Operation has already helped our equipment center customers be more competitive in the West, Midwest, and Canada. We expect the increased business with these customers to continue while expanding plant capacity for our generator enclosure customers.”
