Gene DeFelice Appointed Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary of Barnes & Noble

(NYSE: BKS), the world’s largest bookseller, today announced the appointment of Gene DeFelice as Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary for Barnes & Noble. Mr. DeFelice will be responsible for all legal matters regarding Barnes & Noble, Inc. and its subsidiaries, including management of outside counsel. He will provide guidance to the company and its Board of Directors on all corporate governance and Securities and Exchange Commission matters, including public disclosures.

Mr. DeFelice joins Barnes & Noble from Savvis, Inc., a publicly traded global leader in cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions for enterprises, where he served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary. Prior to joining Savvis, he was Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Spacelabs Medical, Inc., a medical technology company, and held progressively senior legal roles culminating in sales management and marketing with the Hoffmann-La Roche group in an Executive Expatriate Development Program in Switzerland.

Mr. DeFelice graduated from Rutgers University, received his Doctorate of Law degree from Seton Hall University and a Masters of Business Administration from Webster University in Geneva, Switzerland.
