Bronx Haunted House Gears Up to Launch its Lead by Example Volunteer and Mentoring Program


Bronx, NY – Liberty Development Community Center is gearing up to launch its “Lead by Example Volunteer and Mentoring” program this Halloween. In a partnership with the Bronx Haunted House and selected students from the neighborhood will be dedicated to ensuring that every child in The Bronx has a safe Halloween.

The Bronx Haunted House along with Liberty Development Community Center is encouraging community members - including neighbors, parents, teachers, senior citizens, college students and high school students - to “Lead by example” All a person has to do is offer a little of his or her time to mentor a child and teach them the benefits of volunteering and achieving goals. Bronx Haunted House on Friday, October 22, 2010 will reward any volunteer or mentor in the community with free entry to the haunted house at 974 Home Street between Vyse & Hoe Avenues.

"I think that Halloween is a holiday where there can potentially be a danger to a community, so a good mentor can demonstrate something positive and safe for the kids this Halloween” says Tito Roberto. Good mentor exist to provide students how to be a good role models and help them develop socially and emotionally. Mentors help kids learn to understand and communicate their feelings, to relate to their peers, and develop relationships with other adults. Liberty Development Community Center is working hard beginning the Halloween toward opening a new center and gets every one who qualifies trained to be a good mentor.
