New Record Set with Pioneer® Brand Soybean Variety 94Y71, Yielding 160.6 Bushels Per Acre

DES MOINES, Iowa, - DuPont congratulates Kip Cullers of Purdy, Mo., for breaking the world record in soybean production at 160.6 bushels per acre, six bushels higher than the world record Cullers set in 2007. Cullers achieved this with Pioneer® brand soybean variety 94Y71.

“We applaud Kip on demonstrating the yield potential of today’s elite soybean varieties,” said Paul E. Schickler, president - Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business. “We’re especially proud that Kip used a high-yielding Y Series soybean variety from Pioneer. His achievement shows how genetics and crop management play a role in higher yields.”

Boosting Soybean Yields

“Kip’s achievement further demonstrates the advances Pioneer has made in developing and producing soybeans with higher yield potential,” said Schickler. “Breaking the 100-bushel-per-acre mark has become a more common occurrence as new technologies allow researchers to develop products with a complete package of offensive and defensive characteristics.”

In 2006, Cullers first set a world record by producing 139 bushels per acre with Pioneer® brand variety 94M80. He surpassed that mark the following year with the same Pioneer variety with a yield of 154.57 bushels per acre.

Y Series soybeans from Pioneer represent a step-change in soybean productivity. The launch of Y Series soybeans two years ago is the result of proprietary matrix of traits and technologies Pioneer researchers have been developing and deploying to accelerate product development. Pioneer has employed its exclusive Accelerated Yield Technology (AYT™) and marker-assisted selection to boost the yield potential and improve the agronomic performance of these varieties.

The success of the Y Series is one of the reasons Pioneer is the undisputed market share leader in soybeans in North America, a leadership role the company has held since 1989.
