New Pilot System Allows for Effective Delivery of the BioViper™ Industrial Wastewater Treatment System

WEBWIRE

Baswood Corporation, a provider of advanced industrial wastewater pretreatment systems, announces their new BioViper™ pilot system, a mobile unit used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the technology on effluent from food & beverage plants. The Baswood BioViper™ delivers significantly lower lifecycle costs, in a smaller footprint than competing technologies. The BioViper™ requires 40% less energy, produces minimal easy-to-handle solids, while operating virtually odor free. The Baswood BioViper™ offers the preferred combination of cost, effectiveness, size, and simplicity to provide optimal pretreatment while eliminating many limitations associated with other biological wastewater treatment systems.

Based on Baswood’s patented Aerobic/Anaerobic Integrated Microbial Succession (AIMS) technology and innovative ‘Dry Cycle’ process, the BioViper™ reduces biological and chemical oxygen demand (BOD/COD) in wastewater from the food & beverage industry. This includes dairy, further processing, and beverage plants. The full-featured mobile system allows Baswood to take their technology to manufacturing facilities across the U.S. to demonstrate its effectiveness.

“We are pleased to be able to offer our technology to our clients on a pilot-scale,” said Baswood CEO, Mike Walker. “Not only can we provide our clients with confidence in our technology, but we save them time and money by optimizing full-scale system design prior to installation.”

The BioViper™ pilot system has a hydraulic capacity of up to 20 gpm of high-strength wastewater. The compact system is housed in a self-contained, customized, 40-foot shipping container requiring minimal setup. The pilot unit features on-line water quality monitoring, office/lab space, influent and effluent pumping systems, composite sampling, and effluent clarification. The unit is outfitted with instrumentation that allows for remote, online monitoring and operation.

The mobile system is currently in operation at a bottling plant in the Midwest U.S. for a major soft drink manufacturer, where it is processing a slip stream of the facility’s concentrated effluent wastewater. Baswood will use the results of this test to finalize the design of the full-scale BioViper™ system, establish application-specific operating costs, and satisfy local regulatory requirements.
