Crystal clear calling thanks to Mobistar’s Mobile HD Voice technology

Brussels - Mobistar has become the first in Belgium to implement the Mobile HD Voice technology on its 3G network. With HD Voice Mobistar clients call in High Definition (HD) quality, if they have a Mobile HD Voice-compatible 3G mobile phone. Calling in HD quality offers an entirely new experience. Mobistar clients can use this Mobile HD Voice service free of charge.

Mobistar is continuing to invest in its mobile network to improve the calling experience of its customers, and today is implementing the Mobile HD Voice technology. This technology uses the AMR-WB (Adaptive Multi-Rate Wideband) speech codec. Mobile HD Voice provides excellent audio quality thanks to the use of a wider speech bandwidth of 50–7000 Hz, compared to the current narrowband speech codec which uses 300–3400 Hz.

Mobile HD Voice offers Mobistar clients the best voice traffic quality. Background noises are reduced and the calls are very clear, so that even emotions are transmitted and whispered calls are perfectly understandable. In order to make use of this free service, the clients need a HD Voice-compatible 3G mobile phone and a 3G network that supports this technology. Mobistar´s 3G network is a national mobile broadband network that covers 90 % of the population and supports this HD Voice technology.
