Verimatrix Extends VCAS for Internet TV with Versatile Secure Client Technologies and Applications for Multiple Devices
ViewRight Web Security Clients and ViewRight LIVE iPhone/iPad App Provide Cross-Platform Support for Secure OTT Delivery
IBC2010, Amsterdam - Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced the availability of its ViewRight® Web client family, a robust package of portable security applications that provide authentication services for the growing range of devices supporting the HTTP Live Streaming video standard. As an integral component of the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) for Internet TV solution, ViewRight Web technology is designed for operators that want to deploy secure over-the-top (OTT) video content services using this advanced adaptive rate streaming protocol. Using a security single client, this new breed of video service can offer a seamless mix of live, catch-up and on-demand content.
ViewRight Web enabled clients are currently available in a number of variants, with more in development, including support for PCs, iPhone OS 3.0+ (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch), Android OS and set-top boxes (STBs). ViewRight Web applications automatically adjust to use a device appropriate video format and dynamically switch between bit-rates to maintain a smooth consumer video experience. The portable security code has been interoperability tested with a range of leading encoder and web server suppliers, such as Envivio, Harmonic, Allegro, Edgeware, Anevia, Vidiator and others. Details of the functionality and architectural approach for each client can be found on the Verimatrix website.
Verimatrix is also offering its ViewRight LIVE application as a fast track solution to enable global digital TV operators with a secure video player option for content services to the iPhone and iPad device families. The app’s business logic provides subscriber/device registration and device-level authentication on a range of services from an expanding, distributed on-demand and live set of sources. ViewRight LIVE also offers an app framework that operators can customize and brand to match the presentation look and feel of broadcast channels and video-on-demand (VOD) on STB and other device types.
Both ViewRight Web and the ViewRight LIVE app will be on display at IBC2010 in Hall 4 Booth B84.
