Harris Corporation Names Ted Hengst Corporate Vice President and Chief Information Officer


MELBOURNE, FL - Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has named Ted Hengst corporate vice president and chief information officer (CIO), reporting to Howard L. Lance, chairman, president and CEO. Hengst, 55, has served as president of Harris IT Services since joining Harris in December 2006. In his role as CIO, Hengst will have responsibility for setting the strategic direction, architecture and governance of Harris’ global IT enterprise to drive innovation, fuel growth, and enable transformation to advance our customers’ and Harris’ competitive advantage through the use of information technology.

Prior to joining Harris, Hengst served as a senior vice president for General Dynamics. Previously, he served in the U.S. Army, retiring at the rank of Colonel. His last assignment was as CIO (J6) at U.S. Special Operations Command at MacDill AFB, Florida. As CIO, Hengst was responsible for planning, funding and execution of all phases of information, computing and communications resources for a 46,000-person command. Hengst earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a master’s degree in management information systems from the Naval Post Graduate School.
