Digiscribe Client AIG Highlighted by HHS for Electronic Health Records Implementation

Digiscribe client All Island Gastroenterology Associates (AIG) of Long Island was recently featured on the US Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) website as a positive example of the benefits of integrating medical record scanning with an electronic health records system.

Digiscribe, a New York area document management company, worked with the medical practice to incorporate document scanning, document management and e-forms into their electronic medical records management system. As the HHS article indicates, the goal was to free file storage space for expansion as well as streamlining records retrieval and delivery of patient services.

The July 23, 2010 HHS article, part of the agency’s Health IT Journey-Stories from the Road project, also highlights the financial benefits of the electronic health records system expansion. “Overall, the featured implementation delivered a quick, strong and measurable ROI, increased practice profitability and improved patient service,” according to Mitch Taube, Digiscribe President and CEO.

“The AIG implementation”, Taube continues, “is a success story on many levels. The recognition by HHS of AIG’s commitment to improved patient care as well as continuing profitability sends a positive signal to other medical practices wrestling with the new electronic medical records regulations. We are proud to be a partner in that message.”

AIG had previously been awarded the 2010 Nucleus Research Technology ROI award for their implementation of Digiscribe’s services. That award recognizes deployments of specific IT solutions that achieve positive bottom-line financial and business results.
