Combination of solutions accelerates problem isolation and troubleshooting

SAN DIEGO, Calif., Storage Networking World, April 3, 2006, Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced an OEM agreement with Protocol Analytics to distribute the company’s SanAlytics software. SanAlytics is a post-processing software that complements the Agilent 1735A Fibre Channel traffic-generation and protocol-analysis solution. This combination of products will help engineers accelerate the development of Fibre Channel SAN equipment and speed troubleshooting and debugging.

Growth is the most reliable constant in the storage industry. As Fibre Channel fabrics grow in size and complexity, it becomes more difficult to identify the root cause of elusive, system-level problems. To test effectively, designers and system-level validation teams need state-of-the-art test equipment to help them identify problems and quickly pinpoint the root cause.

Agilent’s 1735A solution provides advanced analysis features such as drag-and-drop and search and filtering capability, and one of the world’s few state-machine-based triggering system to help engineers capture problems in real time.

SanAlytics’s post-processing engine enables increased clarity by providing multiple views of the captured data, highlighting different relationships in the data. This means engineers will no longer need to search through large traces; instead, the SanAlytics software will highlight key relevant issues.

Benefits of SanAlytics include:

* exchange view -- clearly identifies the protocol exchanges between end devices, grouped by exchange IDs, in an easy-to-understand graphical format;
* protocol fault view -- a unique state-machine-based method of identifying protocol violations; and
* trace summary view -- allows the engineer to see at a glance any errors or unexpected events in the captured data.

“SanAlytics simplifies the debugging and troubleshooting process, and enables engineers to concentrate on the development of their product,” explained Herb Silverman, CEO of Protocol Analytics. “We are pleased to be working with Agilent to complement their existing leading SAN test products.”

“Associating with Protocol Analytics is good business for Agilent, Protocol Analytics and, most important, our customers,” said Siegfried Gross, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Digital Verification Solutions Division. “SanAlytics post-processing software combined with Agilent’s powerful Fibre Channel traffic-generation and real-time analysis test tools will provide our customers with the most comprehensive Fibre Channel SAN test solution in the industry.”

U.S. Pricing and Availability

The SanAlytics standard software package is free for all Agilent 1735A-A00 Fibre Channel protocol analyzer customers. A premium upgrade of SanAlytics software (1735A-P00), including performance graphs, enhanced fault view and SCSI summary view, will be available to Agilent customers for an initial price of $2,800. Both standard and premium packages will be available May 1, 2006.
