PLANTECO technology selected for 2010 edition of the Better World Report

The new remediation technology, MuniRem invented by Dr. Valentine Nzengung, Professor of Geology of the University of Georgia’s Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and President and CEO of PLANTECO Environmental Consultants, LLC, has been selected for inclusion in the 2010 editions of the Better World Report.
Pulbished annually by the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), the Better World Report focuses on global health and the role technology transfer plays in the lives and well-being of people everywhere. The then for the 2010 edition is “Innovations from Academic Research that Postively Impact Quality of Life”.
A perfect fit for that them, MuniRem is a newly-developed technology that cleans up explosives residues and bulk explosives on land and in groundwater, and can be used for decontamination of buildings used in muniitons manufacture and processing.
Additionally, MuniRem can neutralize explosives from munitions recovered from oceans and lakes. As aging rounds continue to corrode, the potential for release of their contents increases an interest in addressing these contaminants.
The U.S. Department of the Army has funded a successful demonstration/balidation test of MuniRem for several application.
