CINCINNATI, March 31, 2006 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) today announced that it has received a significant order for its Videotek® test and measurement equipment from leading Italian media group, Mediaset S.p.A., as part of the launch of its new high-definition (HD) play-out facility in Milan. This latest order brings the number of Videotek® TVM-900 and the new TVM-950 installed at Videotime S.p.A. Production Center of Mediaset Group to more than 20 instruments.

“We chose the Harris Videotek test and measurement instruments to handle all the signal measurement in our new digital terrestrial television play-out facility for Pay-Per-View and Interactive MHP,” said Mauro Cassanmagnago, research and engineering director, Videotime S.p.A – Mediaset Group. “With its built-in Waveform monitor, Vectorscope, picture display and audio meter, the TVM series provides a raft of signal monitoring that we required, including analysers for Teletext and WSS and Dolby® E decoding, in one compact and cost-effective package.”

As an existing customer of Harris Videotek® products, as well as Leitch routing and distribution products, Videotime S.p.A. – Mediaset Group were keen to work with the company on a number of levels to facilitate their move to HD. Therefore, Mediaset began testing the TVM-900 in March 2005, and last summer became the first beta site in Europe for the new TVM-950.

“We are delighted to have Mediaset as a key customer site for our latest Videotek test and measurement products to facilitate their HD rollout,” said Dave Dougall, vice president of sales, Europe, Africa and Middle East, Harris Broadcast Communications Division. “The TVM series has generated tremendous interest with our customers worldwide since its launch last September. As well as offering an array of functionality in one device, the new TVM-950 also provides unique functions such as monitoring capabilities in quadrants — an essential feature for Mediaset, as they were keen to reduce the number of instruments that their operators must check and control.”

With 100 percent digital signal processing technology, the TVM-950 provides accurate, stable display of single or multiple Waveform, Vector, Gamut, Audio, Picture, Timing and Data Analyser functions in quadrant or full-screen views. The TVM-950’s capabilities include advanced analysis tools, an extensive alarm set with peak level reporting, metadata, EIA-608, 708 closed caption, Teletext and XDS displays. Remote interfaces include 10/100BaseT Ethernet and USB ports, supporting frame-capture transfer and mouse control.

The new TVM series has a user-friendly interface featuring illuminated front-panel controls, a streamlined, context-sensitive pop-up menu structure and an ultra-quiet cooling system, with a modular platform design for easy field upgrades. Full digital implementation and automated testing provisions virtually eliminate manual adjustments during set-up and parameter changes. Options include HD/SD Eye Pattern, additional HD/SD-SDI, SD-SDI or analogue composite inputs, eight channels of analogue, AES/EBU and embedded audio processing, with CineSound® Surround display, Dolby® Digital and Dolby® E decoding. The TVM-950 seamlessly integrates into broadcast, post-production, satellite or cable facilities and is an ideal choice for quality control, troubleshooting or compliance-checking applications.
