Charm’s Smart name Badge turning networking event look ups to hook ups

ATLANTA GA, - March 29, 2006, Charmed technologies is resurrecting its product offering to the tradeshow and event market place once again, Having gone on a brief sabbatical while focusing on commercial safety and security applications after 911, Charmed is re-introducing the Charmed SMART name badge. The Charmed Smart badge is a wearable technology that helps people meet, match and network more effectively.

“We feel that the market is maturing and is becoming more sophisticated. With the heightened awareness given to other wireless solutions like RF tags and Wifi, the tradeshow industry is still looking for that low-cost, high-tech method of bringing a more immersive experience to show attendees. The badge facilitates interactions and eliminates much of the guess work that goes on at social networking events and offers a better data collection tool for exhibitors, states Keith Sciulli Charm’s new Executive director.

The Charm Smart name badge uses a robust Infrared directional beaconing to identify other Badge wearers of shared interest to make the digital transaction possible. When two badges of similar preferences meet, the badge’s LED lights glow proportionately and alerts the wearers that they match. The badge stores all of the profile data and interaction dwell times until the information is ready to be ported over to the user’s PURL, (Personal URL) where it is downloaded onto their customized web based interaction report.

The badge’s technology extends a show venue beyond it’s physical boundaries, so regardless where two badges meet and match, a digital lead exchange is made. What you have is a great way to identify those with whom you have an affinity, a way to break the ice, and record very important data to support an analytics process.

The badge is a lower cost alternative to other solutions and performs in an intuitive manner hidden within a conventional name badge holder. Unlike RF it is not so susceptible to errors and identity theft. “RF tags are easily spoofed these days.” says Mr. Sciulli. “We want to make this technology more accessible. It needs to be experienced because once you meet and start matching you never want to fumble with awkward opening lines ever again. It’s the fusion of technology and personality whose time has come. Bringing people together, there’s no nobler purpose than that.”
