Long Beach, CA—Martha Flores Gibson, candidate for California State Assembly in the 54th District, will be a featured speaker Wednesday at the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Long Beach Republican Party Headquarters. The event will be on Wednesday, July 7th from 4pm to 7pm, at 3939 N. Atlantic Avenue, #107, Long Beach, 90807.

“I am happy to join my fellow Republicans at this proud event, as we open our new headquarters, and work towards what will be a successful 2010 for Republican candidates in Long Beach,” stated Flores Gibson.

Martha Flores Gibson has been an educator in the Long Beach Unified School District for nearly 20 years, and brings her passion for education on the campaign trail as she fights for fiscal responsibility and restoring school funding as part of her top priorities.

Signs for a Republican takeover of this seat were strong coming out of the June Primary, as her opponent garnered less than 1,000 votes more than Flores Gibson. The 54th State Assembly seat is one of the few Democrat controlled seats in the state where Republicans combine with Independents to outnumber Democrats.

“Voters in the 54th Assembly District are tired of double-digit unemployment, education cuts, and higher taxes,” said Flores Gibson. “2010 is the year when voters reject the cynical policies of career politicians, and elect responsible, common-sense leaders who share their values.”
