Newest Model to the MX Series Takes Grand Prize for Large Enterprise Networking Infrastructure

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - Juniper Networks® (NYSE: JNPR) today announced that its MX80 3D Universal Edge Router was among the Best of Show Award winners at Interop Tokyo 2010. The MX80 3D received the grand prize in the Large Enterprise Networking Infrastructure category, maintaining Juniper’s winning streak at the show stretching back to Interop Tokyo 2007.

The Best of Show Award winners were selected from among the products and solutions exhibited by more than 300 companies at Interop Tokyo 2010, with finalists chosen after rigorous examination by a panel of IT industry experts.

“Our mission is to make high-speed communications more accessible to our community,” said Ivan Slavich, CEO of TransACT, a leading Australian-based telecommunications service provider. “Juniper’s MX80 3D gives us the total capacity, reliability and scalability we need to meet the requirements of our customers today and in the future while providing the investment protection we need to grow our business.”

The Juniper Networks MX80 3D Universal Edge Router, which became generally available last month, is the most compact member of the MX Series 3D product family, powered by the Trio chipset and Junos®, a high performance operating system for routing, switching and security. Only 3.5-inches high, MX80 3D is designed to drive down the total cost of ownership and increase operational efficiencies, in both enterprise and service provider deployments.

“Interop Tokyo is one of the most significant industry events in the region and it’s an honor to be selected for one of the top awards,” said Rami Rahim, senior vice president and general manager, Edge and Aggregation Business Unit at Juniper Networks. “Enterprises and service providers alike know that scalability is essential to meeting the demand for increasing dimensions of bandwidth, services and end-users. The MX Series are the only routers designed to simultaneously scale the network in all three dimensions, reflecting our New Network approach of delivering performance in a simplified, cost-effective architecture.”

Designed for deployment on campuses, data centers and service providers for WAN connectivity, the MX80 3D is especially suited for environments requiring full Ethernet capabilities, especially when space and/or power are critical considerations.
